Candidates for Fort Worth City Council - Districts 6, 7, & 8

Daryl Davis - District 6

On February 17th I officially announced my candidacy for Fort Worth City Council, District 6.

The residents of our communities are ready for a better day in Fort Worth. That will only happen when we have a Better Way of handling the People’s business and when we elect leaders who will not be afraid to take charge, especially when we need them to most.

If you are ready for a Better Way in Fort Worth, we will need your help knocking on doors, making phone calls, hosting events, raising money and doing all that it takes to get our message out across district 6. Like our page or send us a message and someone from our campaign will reach out to you to get you plugged in.

Together we can get the leadership and representation district 6 needs, and start our journey toward a Better Way and a Better Fort Worth.

If the Fort Worth of our dreams is to become the Fort Worth of our destiny, we need leaders who are not afraid to lead in tough times, on tough issues, and in ways that unite our communities.

Daryl Davis is that leader.  Donate today to help him get elected to City Council to help create a Better Way for Fort Worth.

Michael Matos - District 7

Michael Matos is a candidate for District 7 of Fort Worth City Council seeking to bring responsive and proactive leadership to Fort Worth. Michael has proudly called Fort Worth home for over twenty years; he graduated from Fossil Ridge High School in 2009, then went on to receive his BA from Ottawa University, followed by his MA in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University.

After deciding to settle and start his family in District 7, Michael's eyes were opened to the concerns that his neighbors had surrounding various city issues — and the lackluster response they received from current city leadership. In 2017, he decided to provide a platform for his neighbors' voices and launched his first campaign for Fort Worth City Council. That campaign, which started with few resources and a small team of volunteers from the community, doubled voter turnout from the previous city council election, halted the construction of harmful developments, and inspired a heightened level of local dialogue.
Since that first campaign, Michael has married the love of his life, Laura, and welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Xander. Starting a family has renewed Michael's inspiration to fight for local families and the next generation of Fort Worthians.

Michael believes that the citizens of District 7 can no longer afford the reactive leadership coming from City Hall. From human trafficking to infrastructure and the Panther Island project, Michael is convinced Fort Worthians deserve a proactive approach to the pressing issues facing our City.

I am ready to serve District 7 and tackle the most pressing issues facing our city. Donations enable us to print yard signs, mailers, and get our message to Fort Worth voters. Whether you donate $10, $25 or $100, your contribution will help usher in lasting change to our city.

Chris Nettles - District 8

As a father and active member of the community, I believe that District 8 should be a place where all can raise a family, seek economic opportunity, and spend quality time. I look forward to earning your vote and representing your interests in the Fort Worth City Council!

Christopher Nettles is a lifelong resident of District 8 and the City of Fort Worth. He is currently married to Shakia Nettles and they are the proud parents of four children: Jalen, Christopher Jr. (CJ), Caleb, and the princess Christianna Nettles. He is a family man and believes in devoting his time to his children, business, and community.

He is a graduate from North Crowley High School (class of 2006) where he was the President of his Junior Class and President of F.C.A. “Fellowship of Christian Athletes.” He also attended Dallas Baptist University, studying in Christian Ministries.

Chris is the Assistant Court Manager to Judge Lisa Woodard for Tarrant County Precinct Eight. This profession has allowed him to be a role model and mentor to the young men that come through the court system. The civil courts deal with Class C Misdemeanors, Truancy, Driver License hearings, and more.

Mr. Nettles is also a businessman and entrepreneur. Since 2014, he has owned and operated his own business, Haven of Purpose Childcare Center. The center provides care, education, nutritious meals, and more to the children they are responsible for. It is a part of Purpose Driven Ministries, where Mr. Nettles is the senior Pastor. For eight years, the ministry has played an active part in the community.

In 2017, Christopher Nettles ran against Betsy Price for Mayor of Fort Worth. He came up short, but earned over 10,000 votes in the election. He hopes to build on what he learned during that experience to run the best, most efficient campaign possible.
